GENERAL QUESTIONS

 

What types of pets do you care for?

Katie’s Creature Care takes care of all pets! 

 

How long have you been caring for pets?

I have been caring for pets since I was a little girl. I was given the gift of my family to be able to take a Wildlife Zoology camp through Elawa Farms, a camp in SeaWorld when I was younger focused on their turtle rescue mission and many more. I have always had an interest in animals. I also grew up with a schnauzer named Dede! 

 

What makes KCC different?

KCC differentiates itself by the following:

• We are a family, not only is your pet part of my pack but so are you! 

• I acknowledge that every pet deserves quality care no matter what and through this acknowledgement, I take payment plans for pricing! 

• I as the owner may not have a degree but I do have passion and care for what I do! 

 

Can you care for senior pets?

Yes! 

 

Do you care for pets with special needs?

Yes, depending on the needs. Please email me with specifications on your pets care and I will do my best to accommodate! 

 

Are you experienced with exotic pets?

I am! Working at Wilmette Pet Center and taking classes through PSI has given me both hands on and information-based learning! 

 

Can you administer medication?

Yes! I am capable and experienced in administering medication orally and subcutaneously. 

 

MEET AND GREET

 

Do you offer a meet and greet?

I do! 

 

Is there a fee for the meet and greet?

Depending on location, there is a fee. Please call or email me with your location. 

 

How long does the meet and greet last?

Meet and greets typically last anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. 

 

What happens during the meet and greet?

• I will get to know you and your pet

• I will take any notes needed 

• We will discuss entry to the home 

• We will discuss forms and payment if customized payment is needed 

 

Is a meet and greet required before booking?

Yes! 

 

BOOKING

 

How do I book services?

You have multiple options to book services. You can text, call or book through the website! 

 

How far in advance should I schedule?

However far in advance you’d like! This ensures your pet’s spot on the schedule. 

 

Can I book recurring visits?

Absolutely!

 

Do you accept last minute bookings?

For recurring clients yes, unfortunately for new clients, I do not as a meet and greet is required before any service can be booked. 

 

How do I make changes to my reservations?

Please contact me with any changes to your reservations. 

 

Can I extend services while I am away?

Yes depending on the service and the dates. Please consult with me, thank you! 

 

What information do you need before my first booking?

Before the first booking, I require a meet and greet and after this meet and greet, I will send you some forms and then we are all set!

PET SITTING/HOME DROP INS

 

What happens during a pet sitting visit?

I will do my best to keep your pet or pets accustomed to their routine as well as include enrichment and play time. 

 

How long are your visits?

Pet sitting is an overnight stay. 

Home Drop Ins range from 15 minutes to an hour. 

 

Do you do overnight stays?

I do provide overnight stays. For more details, please check the pricing page and feel free to contact me with any questions! 

 

Can you provide multiple visits per day?

I can! The base prices include two visits a day. If you are in need of more than two, please contact me and I will attempt to make it work. Thank you! 

 

Will my pet receive playtime and enrichment?

Yes, your pet will receive custom play time and enrichment! 

 

Can you maintain my pet’s regular schedule?

I do my best to maintain your pet’s regular schedule, if there are conflicts, you will know ahead of time and I will remain in communication with you! 

 

Do you send updates while I’m away?

Absolutely! 

 

DOG WALKING

 

How long are dog walks?

Clients have an option of choosing between 30 minutes and an hour. 

 

Do you walk multiple dogs together?

If they are two small dogs (25 lbs and under), I am happy to! 

 

Are dogs walked individually?

Typically yes!

 

What happens if the weather is bad?

If the weather is bad, it is at the client’s discretion whether they would still like the service. For dog walking, I offer a substitute called “Indoor Enrichment Sessions”. 

 

Do you offer puppy walks?

I typically offer sessions no shorter than 30 minutes, within these sessions, I will also provide lots of cuddles and pets with some enrichment for your puppy. 

 

Can you accommodate nervous/reactive dogs?

I can. 

 

CAT CARE

 

What does a cat visit include?

A basic cat visit includes feeding, litter scooping, play time and snuggles (if your feline friend would like!)

 

Can you clean litter boxes?

I do! 

 

Will you play with my cat?

Of course! 

 

Can you care for shy or fearful cats?

I can care for shy or fearful cats. 

 

SMALL ANIMALS & EXOTIC PETS

 

Do you care for rabbits?

I love rabbits! I take care of a few rabbits at the moment. I’d be happy to take care of your hoppy friend!

 

Can you care for guinea pigs, hamsters, and other small mammals?

I can do that too! 

 

Do you care for reptiles?

I do care for reptiles. 

 

Can you care for birds?

I do have experience in caring for our avian friends as well. 

 

Can you care for fish and aquariums?

I can! 

 

Do you care for amphibians?

I would love to assist you with your amphibians! 

 

Are you experienced with exotic pet husbandry?

My work experience from Wilmette Pet Center and being a reptile owner myself has advanced my skills with exotic pet husbandry. 

 

FISH TANK MAINTENANCE

 

What aquarium services do you provide?

I provide water changes and tank set up. Pricing for the water changes is tiered by tank size. For custom tank set up, please email me. 

 

Do you perform water changes?

I do if you have your own equipment. 

 

Can you clean freshwater and salt water tanks?

I focus on freshwater tanks 

 

Do you test water parameters?

I can if you have a water test kit! 

 

Can you help diagnose common aquarium issues?

I can! I know basic fish care and most common diseases as well, 

 

Do you set up new aquariums?

I do! Any tank that is 75 gallons and under! I am also happy to do the out sourcing for any decor that you would like. 

 

MEDICATION ADMINISTRATION

 

Can you administer oral medications?

I am trained in giving oral medication and have done so many times. 

 

Can you apply topical medication?

I am capable of this as well. 

 

Can you give insulin injections?

I am trained by Pet Sitters International to give insulin injections. 

 

Can you administer eye or ear medications?

Is there an additional fee for medication administration?

 

SAFETY 

 

What happens if my pet becomes sick?

You as the owner will always receive a call first. I will ring twice and if there is no answer, I will take your pet to your provided veterinary office. I will keep you updated as much as possible! 

 

What if there is an emergency?

I will call you twice and then take your pet to your emergency veterinarian!

 

Will you contact my veterinarian?

Yes, I will call you first and if you are unreachable, I will take them to the vet and keep you updated! 

 

Are you trained in pet first aid?

I am not but working towards it. 

 

HOME CARE

 

Can you bring in mail and packages?

100% with no charge! 

 

Can you water plants?

I do so with a $10 add on fee depending on how many plants. 

 

Can you rotate lights and blinds?

If explained how, I’d love to help! 

 

Can you take out trash?

I am happy to assist in anyway possible! 

 

Will my home remain secure while I am away?

Yes!

 

PRICING

 

Do you require deposits?

I do not require a deposit, however, there is a cancellation fee.

POLICIES

 

What is your cancellation policy?

I do have a cancellation policy, it is located on the pricing page. 

 

What is your refund policy?

For one time or recurring services besides pet sitting, if you are not satisfied with your service, you will receive a full refund. For pet sitting, it is a case by case basis that will be discussed between you as the client and me as the owner of KCC. 

 

Do you have a minimum booking requirement?

I do not. You can choose as many or as little services as you would like. 

 

Do you work on holidays?

I do! There is an extra charge of $20 on holidays. Please see the pricing page for more details. Thank you! 

 

What happens if I return home earlier?

If you are planning to return home early from travel, please let me know at your earliest convenience. Out of respect for the time that we have placed aside to take care of your pet, you will not receive a full refund and will be charged for the days I was staying there.

 

What happens if my travel is delayed?

Please contact me and I will do my best to accommodate or I will contact one of my partners.

COMMUNICATION

 

Will I receive photos and videos during each visit?

Yes! I provide photos and videos during each visit. 

I even offer a FaceTime call with your pet!

 

How often will I receive updates?

During every drop in, pet sit, etc. I will send you updates and pictures. I even offer the ability to FaceTime your pet! 

 

Can I contact you while I’m away?

Of course!

What if I don’t have cell service?

If this is the case, please contact me and we will figure out a plan of action. 

 

NEW CLIENTS

 

What should I prepare before my first visit?

Please schedule a meet and greet with me first, thank you! 

 

How do I provide access to my home?

There will be a question located on the forms given after the meet and greet where you can list details about how to access your home. 

 

What if my pet is nervous around new people?

If you have an anxious pet, please contact me two weeks in advance of service as I would like your pet to feel as comfortable as possible and for us to schedule multiple trial visits. 

 

Can we schedule a trial visit before my trip?

Absolutely! Typically within the meet and greet, we will walk through the routine and run a “trial visit”. 

 

FREQUENTLY ASKED SPECIALTY QUESTIONS

 

Can you care for multiple pets?

I can! 

 

Do you care for puppies and kittens?

I do! 

 

Can you provide enrichment activities?

I have taken classes on enrichment for all species. I enjoy providing enrichment! 

 

Can you reinforce basic training cues?

I definitely can! 

 

Can you feed raw diets?

I can! I am very well trained in raw food. I can also help with transitioning over to raw if it is something you are interested in! 

 

Can you accommodate pets with allergies?

I can, I have taken care of many pets with allergies. 

 

Can you transport pets to vet appointments?

At the moment, I do not offer this service but it’s something in the works! 

 

Do you clean up pet accidents?

I do! 

 

Can you monitor pets after surgery?

I can! 

 

Do you offer pet transport services?

Not at the moment, it’s a work in progress!
